Early morning goodbyes at the train station-
We had the best visit with Gino and Jessica Zaragoza and  Monica Mogrovejo from our home church; it was hard to say goodbye.

At the caffe Giardino-
We had some hot chocolate (more like pudding) and shared testimonies and fellowshipped for a while!

Dinner Guests !!!
Gino and Jessica Zaragoza and Monica Mogrovejo having dinner with us at our table!  It was such a total blessing!

Happy Birthday Maestra! Matthew and I made a birthday cake for our Italian class teacher.

Happy Birthday Debra! Matthew and I made a birthday cake for our classmate Debra in Italian class.

The Santo Spirito del Marrone Abbey.
Located in Badia, just north of Sulmona. It is huge and not yet fully opened for viewing.  We visited it with the Special Olympics kids.

Ville Comune park.
Taken in early November. A favorite place to walk, located at the north end of the historic center.

The main street in November.

On the main street in Sulmona.
Foot traffic on Corso Ovidio near Garibaldi Piazza.

Corso Ovidio at the Rotunda, across from Garibaldi Piazza.
The gelateria here is usually packed on weekend evenings and market days.

Piazza di XX Settembre, with the statue of Ovid.
Ovid is the famous poet who lived Sulmona and wrote poetry in 20 B.C. This piazza is used for many events over the summer.

The Santissima Annunziata Complex.
This Catholic church, on the main street, is still in use today for mass, weddings, and funerals.

The Santissima Annunziata Complex.
The platform at the top of the church steps serves as a stage for summer evening bands and orchestras. John and Matthew at the left of the photo.

Past the Ss. Annunziata on Corso Ovidio
A main gathering place to walk, stroll, sit, or eat (or bike), with friends or family.

Villa Comunale.
The park at the north end of Corso Ovidio, where people of all ages can be found walking, talking, or sitting on the benches usually with friends or family day or night!

Confetti Shop.
Many of these shops line Corso Ovidio. Sulmona is famous for its sugar coated almonds (and other centers!) and are handed out as gifts at the end of  marriage ceremonies, or other romantic occasions.

Introdacqua street view. Pedestrian traffic only in front of the house in which we are temporarily staying in Introdacqua, IT, until 6/30/2023. Portions of many of these houses date back to the 1300-1400s.

Looking down the "street" adjacent to the Introdacqua house we are temporarily staying in. Notice the tiny trash cans all stacked up on the left side. Trash is very complicated here in Italy. Five days a week, one of the containers is set out to get emptied.

At the Introdacqua Cross
It sits above the town of Introdacqua, IT, 5/2023
